Doctors Zwinkels Nick (31) and Erdi Huizenga (39), who may have contracted Ebola, in Sierra Leone are back in the Netherlands. They landed today at Schiphol. Reported that the Lion Heart Foundation, which the two were in Africa. The National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) and the Ministry of Health confirmed the arrival.
Zwinkels Huizenga and go from Schiphol directly to an isolated section of the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC).
Zwinkels from Reeuwijk and Huizenga worked from Apeldoorn to a local hospital in Sierra Leone . There they came into contact with people who later deceased to Ebola. The virus can be deadly. Upon infection, people can suffer from fever, headache, muscle aches, diarrhea, bleeding, and problems with the organs. An approved drug against Ebola is not there yet. Patients should uitzieken.
“It is now to assess the health professionals and physicians to do what is needed. We have a good health care in the Netherlands, so I have every confidence in “late minister Edith Schippers said in a statement.
