Netherlands was a dark hour for Earth Hour – NU.nl

That happened among others, the Royal Palace and the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam, the Erasmus Bridge and Hotel New York in Rotterdam, the Peace Palace in The Hague and the Dom in Utrecht.

Several companies participated, such as Center Parcs and IKEA. At various places in the country special events were organized to celebrate Earth Hour. Also did many people at home the lights and candles.

About went around the world to 20:30 local time the lights. The Eiffel Tower (France), Colosseum (Italy), the Sagrada Familia (Spain), Burj Khalifa (Dubai) and the Space Needle (Seattle, USA) all stood an hour in the dark.

ten years ago, Earth Hour was first held, then only in Australia. Meanwhile, the action always begins in Samoa and she travels by 163 countries and 24 time zones, to again finish on the islands in the South Pacific. Netherlands participates since 2009.
