Member of the Dutch parliament, Rik Grashoff Party is by Nature voted the Greenest Politician in 2016. This was published in the VARA tv program Early Birds on NPO Radio 1. The jury calls Grashoff a “green street-fighter” that success for birds, landscape protection and the sustainability of agriculture.
managing Director of Natuurmonumenten, Marc van den Tweel says Grashoff a politician who “realizes that nature in the Netherlands is not restricted to nature reserves.”
In a response says Grashoff that he is happy with his election, but that there is still much to be done. “Nature is a neglected part. I find that the lack of attention in the politics.”
Grashoff was one of six nominees for the title. Other contenders were Gerben-Jan Meindert Gerbrandy (D66), Eric Smaling (SP), Henk Leenders (PvdA), Fatma Koşer Kaya (D66) and Michiel Rijsberman (D66).
The election is this year for the ninth time, organized. Last year was Marianne Thieme of the Party for the Animals voted the greenest politician.
