Intensive approach PGB fraud effect – Focus on News

The more intensive approach to fraud Personal budgets (PCIs) has effect. This is the finding of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZA). In 2013 and the first half of 2014 did the care offices totaling 14,570 home visits to determine whether PGB money is used legitimately and effectively. They also performed “conscious choice conversations” with people who want to apply for a PGB.

Results visits

7% of visits suspected fraud was reported. In 2013 presented the care offices for almost 11 million fixed to PGB fraud. The conduct of conscious choice conversations helps to prevent unauthorized use of PGB money. The discussion showed that two-thirds of the budget holders themselves are not competent enough to manage the budget. A quarter of the budget holders is also not aware of their rights and obligations. Based on the interviews was rejected 20% of applications granted or not right away.



PGB provides care needs

The research shows that the PGB an important tool in the care demand foreseeable. At 80% of the clients care through the PGB is controlled because there are no other options for organizing the necessary care. Also from the home visits come forward positive examples of how a personal budget can meet the demand for care.
