The Dutch Railways will deploy more staff on the train to counter aggression. The NS employs more than 100 additional security guards at the stations.
The double staffing on NS trains will be extended, on trains where aggression occurs more than average. Now all two conductors are used in many late trains on weekends. In the future, this is happening at all night trains, on Thursday, or Saturday and on some routes on Sunday morning, as clubbers go home. That was agreed in consultation with the unions and the works council. It is intended that control in 2017 in all trains after 22:00 two conductors ticket.
The last time came violence against railway staff regularly in the news. Rail union FNV had earlier proposed to equip the NS security guards with pepper spray and batons. Now guards of the NS only handcuffs.
