Utrecht serial rapist is prosecuted in four cases. That was one more than in autumn during the pro forma session reported. The final indictment was announced today by the Public Prosecutor.

In the other eighteen cases studied no prosecution “because of lack of evidence.” The victims are informed.

The rapes where T. is suspected, took place between 1995 and 2001. Between those years was committed in and around Utrecht numerous rapes and sexual assaults, which led to great unrest. Women were advised to ride alone, and police held a major investigation.

A suspect was eventually arrested never, until this spring. When T. was caught for a bicycle theft, whereby DNA was taken from him. That linked him ultimately to the rapes. T. had previously also been in focus as a suspect, but then he refused to give up DNA.

The now 52-year-old suspect pleads according to the OM still on his right to remain silent.
