UTRECHT – The number of young people who fell into a coma due to excessive alcohol consumption, increased again last year. In total, 931 young people arrived at the hospital. 120 of them come from Brabant. This puts the number comazuipers in our province ranked third, after North Holland and South Holland.
This is an increase of 148, or 19 percent, compared to the previous year. According to figures from Dutch Signaling Center for Pediatrics (NSCK) that appeared Tuesday.

In 691 of the recorded minors, there was alcohol poisoning, 27 percent more than in 2014. on average, the youth had a blood alcohol level of 1.94. This corresponds to an amount of alcohol after drinking in a short period of at least six glasses in girls and ten boys. A clear explanation for the increase in the number comazuipers is not there.
Three hours unconscious
average, the youngsters were three hours unconscious. Most of them indicated that they had drunk strong liquor, followed by beer, mixed drinks and wine.
The average age of the young people who were hospitalized last year was 15.4 years. It involves almost as many girls (47 percent) and boys (53 percent).
The study is based on figures from NSCK, Hospital Reinier de Graaf in Delft, the University of Twente and Dutch Instituut voor Alcohol Policy STEP.
