Small-scale asylum centers according to COA still negotiable – NU.nl

“We can not afford the luxury of rejecting for receiving proposals without proper reasoning. At present, we have every care place badly needed,” says director Gerard Bakker COA against the newspaper.

Mark Buijs (VVD) van Boxtel and Jan Hamming (PvdA) of Heusden wrote Monday in a letter that “a face refugees’ with a small reception ” and ” the community is going to stand around ”.

That would happen in their opinion as the asylum seekers’ center do not exceed fifty or a hundred refugees. They say it should be supported by senior police, a parliamentary majority and the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG)

Both mayors are satisfied with the decision of Bakker and see the outcome optimistic. “COA is extremely positive about our initiative,” said Hamming against the newspaper. “COA deserves a big compliment,” Buijs agrees with him.

The COA held so far stuck to a minimum of three hundred refugees a reception center. Both mayors expect this week to be able to “force” a solution with the COA. Director Baker says, however, that if the municipalities want smaller shelter, they have to work on housing for refugees with a residence permit
