Cabinet hunts Care Act there if need be with trick through – Parool.nl

The Rutte II Cabinet after three days of deep crisis over the rejected regulatory reforms of Minister Edith Schippers of Health escaped a premature end. The government parties VVD and PvdA reached tonight a compromise which the crisis was averted and an impending fall of the government was averted

The crisis began last Tuesday in the Senate when a bill on health insurance policies was voted down. Three Labour senators were partly to blame. They agreed to the surprise of the coalition against. The VVD then demanded PvdA leader Diederik Samson and Labour deputy prime minister Lodewijk Asscher that would solve the problem internally.

This required long discussions with the ‘dissident’ PvdA Guusje ter Horst, Adri and Duivesteijn Marijke Linthorst. They had objections in principle, but proved tonight satisfied with the changes that were to Skippers prepared. A guarantee that the three will support the amended bill indeed, refused to give them, but the government is confident after the talks that it will be okay.

Senate Should again voted down the new law, it will cabinet with the House go into consultations on a solution. That way was found in a so-called General Administrative Order (Order in Council), said Labour leader Diederik Samsom in the parliamentary debate that followed the deal between VVD and PvdA.

Criticism opposition
Such an order in council is an elaboration of a law which no consent of the Representatives and the Senate is required. Samson and VVD party leader Halbe Zijlstra defended that option, but got a lot of criticism from the opposition, even from friendly fractions (D66, Christian Union and SGP).

Opposition parties spoke of a trick (SP), a threat (D66), a ruse to circumvent the Senate (GL) or questioned whether the state law it is pure (Christian Union). Alexander Pechtold (D66) said it is in that he will not but judge the law of content than before, when he was before.

According VVD party leader Halbe Zijlstra, the emergency road hypothetical but state law correctly and aligned with the country lawyer.
