Repair work on ‘sinkhole’ Gaffelstraat started in Breda – BN De Stem

BREDA – The municipality’s Saturday afternoon began with the recovery of the surface of the Gaffelstraat. Friday evening there sprang a water leaving a gap emerged in the way of five by five meters. A parked car dropped almost in the resulting “sinkhole.”

Around half past eleven noticed the residents of the street to the ground began to tremble. “We were just to sleep,” said one of them. “When we started looking, we saw some kind of explosion of water.”

The water caused a huge mudslide. Police and firefighters were quickly on the spot and off the street. Extra caution was there at the house where the water jump.

Prolapse

 It was feared that the wall would sag. Nevertheless did no one to be evacuated. All the resident of the house on spent his grandchild staying with him or otherwise.

The car of his daughter that was parked at the door, slumped almost entirely in the resulting hole (picture 1). Residents in a few blocks away were sand from the tap.

Hole again close

 The fire brigade pumped the water just before it could enter the houses. The water supply was shut off. The hole was night filled with sand.

The municipality will investigate the short term if there are weaknesses in the ground. Saturday morning brushing machines were used to remove the sand and mud from the Gaffelstraat.

Haagweg

 Last week jumped an aqueduct to Haagweg in Breda. The residents had to leave their homes since then.

In the middle Gaffelstraat, near number 39 in Breda late Friday a water pipe burst which created a hole in the road of five by five meters.
