Road inspectors warn via navigation – Telegraaf.nl

RWS is conducting a trial which stewards can warn motorists via navigation accidents and breakdowns. This should increase the safety of the inspectors and road users. The trial will be held on freeways in and around Flevoland

Securing Road Stewards of Public Works with their famous yellow pickups accidents and breakdowns on the highways. Their vehicles are often hit. The measure should alert road users earlier in deposits, according to Public Works Thursday. Road inspectors place their vehicle diagonally across a lane or the lane to secure an accident or breakdown event. Then they send the touch of a button via the mobile phone location information to the so-called Flister platform. This provides information on navigation and traffic apps with a traffic subscription. The information can be used by the radio.

Rijkswaterstaat hopes to gain in terms of safety especially during peak hours. In an accident or technical breakdown at night often arises no file that ends up in the traffic, and motorists are therefore less attentive to the obstacle on the road.

do ten stewards participated in the experiment, initially will last three months. It is held on (parts of) the A1, A6, A27, A28 and N50. After three months, see whether the new system has actually helped to safety. Based on that evaluation, Rijkswaterstaat will decide whether it longer and is also used in other parts of the country
