The handwritten piece of paper is the second ultimatum and the capitulation document of the city. Groeneveld writes about in his book Rotterdam Front City that appears on Thursday.
The Germans ask the document in May 1940 to the surrender of Rotterdam. It is still being negotiated at that time about an ultimatum, but the preparations for the bombing of Rotterdam are already in full swing.
Only a part of the bombs in the end does not fall on the city. Then the capitulation document is signed yet.
