Government makes arrangements for uninsured homeless people – NU.nl

That said ministers Edith Schippers (Health) and Ard van der Steur (Security and Justice) on Monday.

The measure is taken because the homeless often have no fixed residence and postal address. The result is that they can therefore not entitled to health insurance and medical care.

The Department of Health also provides an emergency regime, with helping people who have the necessary papers are not in order. Thereafter ensure, as soon as possible for the write address and insurance.

Broader Approach

The agreement between the government and the Association of Dutch Municipalities is part of a broader approach to the issues around confused people which the government recently decided.

the government is working with insurers to create sufficient shelters for confused people. thus people with severe mental health problems rather get the care they need.

Van der Steur also promises to ensure that no detainee insurable without health insurance leaves prison. Therefore, the number of people without health insurance should be reduced
