Is there still money for hail damage in Southeast Brabant? Follow the debate here … – BBC News

THE HAGUE – The area in Southeast Brabant has been affected by the hailstorm, is no disaster. The majority of the House supports the plan of State Secretary Van Dam not to put in the law Allowance damage. The Chamber wants to deal smoothly with existing arrangements and solve coordination problems.

The Standing Committee of Economic Affairs argued Thursday about the impact of the hail storm.

Tears was
CDA MP Jaco Geurts tears in his eyes when he last week visited the affected area. He hoped that other MPs who have been in the area behind his plan to set up an emergency fund. “We need to show national solidarity with the victims.” If not he foresees hard times for the regional economy.

There are also some farmers and growers to The Hague came to listen to the debate. Although they had to keep quiet, SP MP Henk van Gerven received a round of applause. He wanted the Secretary to know if he could ensure that would not bankrupt the farmers. Van Dam had to immediately disappoint farmers: it does not belong to him according to the possibilities.

Act is not intended for this purpose
Van Dam had already been duped know that farmers can not knock the government for compensation. The Secretary of State referred the farmers for their insurance. He feels that the flooding two weeks ago was not a disaster. Damage Compensation Act, according to Van Dam intended for major flooding for example, a dike breach, or earthquakes. Not for the inconvenience that Brabant now has to do.

The Secretary of State therefore maintains its position. “Companies are not all properly insured tall. They took the risk themselves.” He offered farmers earlier this week the possibility to request shorter working hours. Six affected growers did it all.

The other parties in the parliamentary committee are not happy with the attitude of the State VVD and the PvdA. The SP accuses the government that it does not occur to the people in the province.

Petition
Nearly thirty municipalities, housing corporations, health authorities and agricultural organizations in Brabant and Limburg and the provincial governments of Brabant and Limburg signed a petition to the affected areas in Brabant and Limburg to declare a disaster area.

Brabant drivers reacted with disappointment to the debate in the House. According to Wim van den Boomen, chairman of the horticulture department of agriculture organization ZLTO was this morning in The Hague. He says the measures Van Dam State does have ongekondigd are totally inadequate. Those measures include a contribution to the reduction in working hours and appeals to the banks.

Alderman Matthijs Kuijken of Bergijk, a church that was hit hard said Van Dam hides behind rules. “There is an exceptional situation and you have to go with it exceptional,” says Kuijken.

Reporter Jan Waalen was in The Hague to attend the meeting in parliament on the hail damage. He reported on Twitter.
