A Dutch merchant ship last night 320 boat people rescued from the sea between Greece and Italy. The crew had left the ship in a rescue boat and the crew to fend for themselves.
This confirms the owner of the vessel against the NIS. The Erasmusgracht is currently the port of Catania, Sicily. The freighter feed of the Turkish Izmir to Poland.
The boat with Syrian refugees, 300 kilometers south of the heel of Italy in the Ionian Sea encountered. There bobbed around for two days with a faulty drive. How long the ship was at sea is not known. However, there was a lack of water. Some passengers showed signs of dehydration because they drank sea water.
It is expected the ship may moor tonight at the port of Catania. Police officers are already on board to talk to the refugees.
