Fire takes lead in Giro Rosa – Telegraaf.nl

Lucinda Brand on Saturday taken the lead in the Giro Rosa, the Tour of Italy for women. The 26-year-old cyclist from Rabobank Liv finished second in the first leg, the same classification as Friday in the short prologue through the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Fire thus took the pink jersey from compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten, winner of the prologue

Brand was Saturday’s stage over 100 kilometers from Ljubljana to Kamnik, in the mass sprint beaten by the Italian Barbara Guarischi. The women cyclists now travel to Italy, where the rest of the Giro Rosa driving. The stage race ends next Sunday in San Domenico di Varzo. A day earlier, an individual time trial over 20 kilometers on the program.
