Between 09.00 and 21.00 people can enter for free in connection with the exhibition of Rembrandt’s wedding portraits Marten and Oopjen.
Before Minister Jet Bussemaker (Culture) opened the doors, there was a big queue outside the door. Within fifteen minutes about two thousand people were inside.
The much-discussed paintings, which have been given a prominent place next to the Night Watch, the next three months hanging in the Rijksmuseum.

the Netherlands and France have the artworks purchased together by a French private. They each paid 80 million euros for the two-meter high portraits, created in 1634.
The paintings have been almost four hundred years privately. Rembrandt painted the young couple full-length, something which at the time only princes happened.
On the canvases are Marten Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit, then 23 and 21 years old, can be seen in expensive suits to French fashion. Their marriage did not last long, because Marten died at the age of 28
