The fire broke out around midnight. Soon there was a big conflagration. “Everything is on fire: both the roof and the pumps themselves,” said a spokeswoman for the security of NU.nl. The fire destroyed the roof and the pump islands. The facade of the shop was badly damaged.
Firefighters had the fire just after 1:00 pm under control, after which the signal “fire master” was given. It goes according to damp down the fire by the time being. The A12 towards Utrecht is currently closed.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. It is unknown how many people were at the gas station when the fire broke out. Part of the roof has fallen on top of two cars, but it is not clear whether there were people in. Police have launched an investigation to determine what caused the fire.
Many emergency personnel were on site to assist. During the fire no dangerous substances released.
Traffic
Andel is located between Gouda and Bodegraven in the direction of Utrecht. The A12 between Gouda and Reeuwijk to The Hague again released, Rijkswaterstaat reports. Utrecht the road is still closed. The traffic is diverted.
Public Works and the police advised people to over The Hague and Alphen aan den Rijn to drive, the A4 and N11.
