AMERSFOORT – One in three public transport chip cards in the Netherlands has expired or lost. Of the approximately 21.9 million cards produced there are 14.6 million active. The remaining seven million lost or expired, the company Translink announced on Friday.
Who has lost his or her smart card, can request a new one via the website ov-chipkaart.nl. On average, than there is within three working a new chip on the doormat. That takes eleven euros. The balance on the lost smart card can be returned to the bank.
