In the old center of the VOC city Hoorn fell last week after torrential rain suddenly a hole in the pavement of an alley. The hole appeared to meters deep. Archaeologists descended herein and discovered a long brick tunnel.
The passage appears to be part of a large covered sewer system
that is almost everywhere collapsed but here is still intact there. It runs at an old hospital from 1563 and so by dates certain for this time. The many rumors that course would run under the old city, so prove to be true. The investigation is continuing.
