Deputy Prime Lodewijk Asscher of the PvdA has a congress of his party in Utrecht recognized for Muslims in the Netherlands. At the same time, he lashed out at the Geert Wilders’ PVV.

According Asscher, the righteous anger over terrorist attacks focus on the perpetrators, accomplices, the recruiters and those who have inspired to terror. But that anger should not be cooled by the cashier at the supermarket, the neighbor or the mosque around the corner, says Asscher. “They deserve our support.”

“We can not accept that Muslims see their religion hijacked by terrorists and must leave the debate to extremists. Muslims belong to the Netherlands. That means that their faith, Islam, here interpreted freely and will have to be discussed, “said Asscher.

He admires Wilders because despite the threats continues to voice his opinion. But Asscher ‘rejects and despises’ Wilders’ views and he will do everything to fight in the debate.

Wilders sees no people but only suspects, Asscher said. “He scatters with Koran texts but denies the Constitution of the Netherlands. The PVV does not deserve the name of your choosing. Let us, then the party of freedom. Of elevation and of emancipation. The lighting and the connection, “says Asscher opposite the Labour Party conference.

Asscher finished his speech at the congress under a thunderous applause with an appeal to the Labour supporters to show combativeness. Where resistance to the Labour rank increases against the ruling with the VVD, Asscher said that right now it is necessary that the Labour Party is in government. “I know some of you want to talk about rule with the VVD, about the pain of government. But there is more at stake than polls and seats. It is about the future of our country. I ask for your combativeness. Ask not what the Labour Party can do for you, but ask what you do, what we can do for the future. Of freedom. Solidarity. “

Sunday is the second and final day of Labour Congress, including a speech by party leader Diederik Samson.
