Forty people were evacuated due to fire in retail Alkmaar – NU.nl

This is the Safety North Holland North on Twitter to know.

The fire started Thursday just after 3:00 am on the roof of a house above the shop in the Langestraat. Around 6:00 pm the fire hit on to an adjacent property.

At about 9:30 am the fire department reported that the fire was smaller, but the signal fire master could not be given yet.

The fire has great difficulty putting out, because it is difficult and dangerous to enter. Firefighters try to extinguish include four platforms from above.

According to the Noord-Hollands Dagblad are five buildings in the shopping street on fire, which could be deemed largely lost. The case of the buildings would be collapsing.

In the shopping street are much older, against each other built premises. It seems that other neighboring stores are severely damaged by smoke and water spray.

Several homes were evacuated in the immediate area. How the fire may occur is unknown. Or leave a spokeswoman for the Safety North Holland North know whether asbestos is present in the premises.
