TLN/EVO: Suddenly ban freight traffic have major consequences for logistics flows

ZOETERMEER, the netherlands – Rijkswaterstaat has this morning announced that all truck traffic is banned from the Merwedebrug in the A27 to Gorinchem. The previously set weight for traffic heavier than 60 tons, struck with the name of the companies that are specialized in exceptional transport. A ban for all traffic has much larger consequences for the logistics industry.

Substantial economic impact

There are per day, around 18,000 trucks on the Merwedebrug. The alternative route is via the A2 motorway and the A59 motorway is 50 km longer. The closure for traffic disorder, thus logistic processes and creates additional costs. The cost for detour can be by TLN and EVO, estimated at a minimum of € 500.000,- per day. Costs by additional use of trucks and filekosten are not included.

Safety first

TLN and EVO are committed to the proposition that safety above all else and have respect for the action taken. Given the economic impact of the measures should be performed as quickly as possible. This morning is about consultation conducted by specialists of the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat. LikeTweet
