Perpetual lease for Amsterdam homeowners – NU.nl

In Amsterdam for about 80 percent of the houses on leasehold land. Until now, there was a continuous lease.

After the end of a canon, usually 50 or 75 years, the amounts sharply up. Buyers of houses were there, often do not take into account, and banks were increasingly difficult to lease-houses to finance it.

Because in the eyes of the gemeentebestuurder the current system is a lot of uncertainty to get the homeowners in the second half of this year, the chance to choose for the perpetual lease.

Transitioning

In can potentially of 120,000 leaseholders moving to the new system. Who decides that this year will get a discount. That may be the municipality, a total of up to 1 billion euros cost. In June, the city council is a final decision.
