Hoogheemraadschap Stichtse Rijnlanden switches today a sixth emergency pump to the village Kockengen dry to be pumped. In that village streets and houses are still under water after heavy storms yesterday. The board hopes that Kockengen the extra pump and other measures at the end of the day have dry feet, a spokeswoman said.
Kockengen lies at the lowest point of the polders between Maarssenbroek and Amsterdam. If it rains all the water runs to the village.
