Hague police: no racist violence against the legal profession – NOS

The police in The Hague should make a complaint to the president of the International Court of justice against a Jamaican-American trainee. They had the police accused of racist violence. The police expresses its resentment strongly against it and expected to apologize to the woman.

The woman, a black lawyer who has a traineeship at the court, says that the police her last Tuesday on the street and in a police car has humiliated and tortured. She has on Facebook a long story about the events that her own words have stuck with swelling, bruising and trauma.

Junction

The Hague police declares that the police woman on the street claims, after a red traffic light was ignored, and a cross was crossed. She was on her after being hit by a passing bus.

According to the version of the police, which is a comprehensive statement in English on the internet, could the woman does not identify himself and wanted them then run away.

The agents packed therein her bike and then her hand. Then came a scuffle, which ended for the woman in a police car was taken to the office.

Beaten and cuffed

The story of the police is at odds with the story of the American. She writes that she did not know that they have a traffic violation had been made. Because they only pass, the court could show, and no passport, would the police have said that they are under judgment stood, her violently against the police car, have beaten and handcuffs have put on.

Once in the car, took the agents to her much coarser, she writes. In the police cell, she would long time, no phone to have gotten to go to her work to call for help. She eventually became, after the intervention of a colleague, released.

The incident on the street is recorded by surveillance cameras. The police have the images of those not released, but on request, however, shown to journalists.

“That woman on the street aggressive and abusive by agents, is approached, not by the camera images supported”, says NOS-reporter Edwin van den Berg after seeing the video. “The agents make a controlled impression as they make the woman appealing. It gets out of hand if they are unable to provide, the agents may decide to keep her and they are minutes from doing so.”

A witness also says that the agents have been good. “They have her bag off the ground, get caught and her bike lock on it. They were exceedingly patient.”

According to Van den Berg the woman stayed in the police car to resist. “So, the police decided to sirens.” The police says that the woman in the car to a concerned agent asked: “Why do you do this to me, we have the same skin color.”

Excuses

The police called the accusations of racism and violent conduct is totally baseless and expected excuses. The head of the Hague police, Paul van Musscher, is for a conversation at the International Court of justice.

The woman concerned is unreachable. She has, according to the police, ultimately, only a process-verbal because they do not have a passport, could show. The traffic violation remained unpenalized.
