In refugee centers in the Netherlands are registered in the first six months of last year 2,741 incidents. It is the first time that national figures on this come out. De Volkskrant they got hold after an appeal to the Freedom of Information Act (WOB).
Among the incidents were thirteen suicides, eighty suicide attempts, four self-immolations, 47 assaults, 124 intimidations and 23 hunger strikes.
The Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) is only one and a half year a list of incidents in asylum centers. Under political pressure in the wake of the death of the Russian asylum seeker Aleksandr Dolmatov COA decided to improve its accounting. Dolmatov committed suicide in 2013. Incidents late last year
At the end of last year there were a few incidents of violence in refugee centers in the news. In November, there was a big brawl at a center in the Brabant Overloon.
