The attic of a house on the Nedereindseweg in Nieuwegein Saturday completely burnt.
The residents could leave their home in time, but soon after the flames leaped forward the roof. The fire brigade arrived with additional fire engines and had the fire quickly under control, but could not prevent burnt down the entire attic.
The rest of the house was protected from the flames, but could not get a lot of water damage. Therefore, the residents could not stay in their homes and are housed elsewhere.
How the fire started is unclear.
