The population growth for last year is relatively large, according to figures from statistics netherlands over the first eleven months of 2016.
In the four big cities Amsterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht and Rotterdam were more babies born than people died. Also there were more immigrants to the large cities than there are left. Since 2008, it is already so that the population growth in these cities is larger than that in the rest of the Netherlands.
In 2016, there were rural per thousand persons six people. In Amsterdam, there were three times as much. In Rotterdam were the thirteen people per thousand, closely followed by Utrecht with the twelve. In The Hague there were nine people per thousand.
17 million
the Netherlands now has 17.1 million registered residents. Although not all figures of 2016 are processed, the CBS assumes that the population last year 111.000 persons has grown.
In 2015 there were more than 78.000. The pace of growth since the beginning of this century not been that high. That strong growth is especially due to increased immigration.
