THE HAGUE (REUTERS) – The population growth for last year is relatively large. Especially in the big cities took in 2016 the population. That it appears from the figures of statistics netherlands over the first eleven months of 2016. The population growth is mainly by births and by immigration. In 21 percent of the municipalities have decreased the number of inhabitants.

In the four large cities were more babies born than people died. Also there were more immigrants to the large cities than there are left. Since 2008, it is already so that the population growth in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam is larger than that in the rest of the Netherlands. In 2016 there were rural per thousand persons six people. In Amsterdam, there were three times as much. In Rotterdam were the thirteen people per thousand, closely followed by Utrecht with the twelve. In The Hague there were nine people per thousand.

the Netherlands now has 17.1 million registered residents. Although not all figures of 2016 are processed, the CBS assumes that the population last year 111.000 persons has grown. In 2015 there were more than 78.000. The pace of growth since the beginning of this century not been that high. That strong growth is especially due to increased immigration.
