“Presumably norovirus in Dutch Rhine ship ‘- De Gelderlander

The approximately 25 Dutch passengers on the cruise ship Princess Christina who became ill in Germany during a trip on the Rhine probably hit by norovirus. That is a highly contagious disease with symptoms such as abdominal cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.

That is a spokeswoman for the owner, Trans River Line in The Hague, said today. The ship is moored at the site Boppard in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Emergency services already suggested Wednesday that the infection is not life threatening. Research must quickly show whether it actually comes to norovirus.

On board are a hundred people: 38 Dutch, some 40 British and 18 crew members. The Dutch traveled with Kras Reizen. The tour takes them Thursday with a coach and brings them back to the Netherlands.

The driedeks cruise ship MV Princess Christina has a capacity of 107 passengers and sails under the Dutch flag.
