When the magical tablet from ancient Egypt starts to rust, feeling all historical appearances at the Museum of Natural History in New York suddenly sick, weak and nauseous. With his regular gang of misery "Larry travels to the British Museum in London to Pharaoh Merenkahre (Ben Kingsley) for advice.
Old, familiar recipes taste best, Shawn Levy must have thought. And therefore leans Secret of the tomb heavily on the enthusiasm of the director and the technical flair with which this third and final show of the series formula was created.
That the plot again so is flat as a coin of antiquity, is glossed over by the British Museum which houses a lot of fresh historical slapstick. Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens has been on a roll as Sir Lancelot and the miniature cowboy heroes Jedediah (Owen Wilson) and Roman Octavius (Steve Coogan) run for their lives in a model of doom town of Pompeii.
A handful of hilarious guest appearances finally makes Secret of the Tomb an enjoyable adventure in which the deceased Robin Williams (President Teddy Roosevelt) and Mickey Rooney (as retired night watchman) play the last roll of their lives.
