Weather victims MH17 on Dutch soil – NU.nl

The procession arrived just after 18:00 at the Corporal Oudheusden Barracks in Hilversum. According Rijkswaterstaat there were, as in previous funeral processions, weather spectators along the route from Eindhoven.

The ceremony at Eindhoven Air Base was around 17:00 last. The funeral procession with relics is then driven over the A2 and A27 direction Hilversum.

The aircraft took off Saturday morning from Kharkov in Ukraine. It is the eighth time that human remains arrive at the crash site in the Netherlands.

On the airbase in Eindhoven was a ceremony held in the presence of about 150 relatives and on behalf of the Cabinet ministers Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert (Defense ) and Ronald Plasterk (Interior).

The remains are placed after the ceremony for identification to the Corporal Oudheusden Barracks in Hilversum.

Police Assistance

Public Works and the police had hit around the A2 and A27 measures to ensure a smooth and dignified passage of the funeral procession.

During the funeral procession passing other traffic was stopped. Road users therefore had to take into account extra travel time.
