Report: checks immigrants often wrongly – NOS

Two-thirds of the staandehoudingen took place because the police saw something that was not allowed, for example, riding without a light. That was the reason for someone to further check.

In a third of cases the police found the need to have someone standing in because agents suspected that something was wrong. That may be on the basis of behavior (someone who is fast in the other direction runs, for example) or on the basis of external characteristics (such as a young driver in an expensive car).

more than half of the people standing were held was minority. In 60 percent of the cases was the control to justify, because, for example, of behaviour that fits in the commission of a particular offence. In 40 percent of the cases were ex post control is not warranted. Moreover, not all controls of native-born citizens to justify, emphasize the researchers.
