Dutch trade turnover rises more than in remaining EU – NU.nl

In the first quarter of 2016, the turnover was of the hospitality industry in the Netherlands, 24 percent above the low point of the crisis in late 2009, the Central Bureau report Statistics ( CBS ) Tuesday. In the rest of the EU sales grew by an average of 20 percent.

After the outbreak of the credit crisis, sales fell by hotels, cafes and restaurants in the Netherlands just harder than the rest of the EU. Since the fourth quarter of 2013, the Dutch trade turnover exceeded the level before the crisis.

The relatively strong growth, the importance of trade for the Dutch economy increased in recent years. The share of trade in total value added rose from 1.7 percent in 2007 to 1.8 percent in 2015. Because of the recession, the proportion in 2010 dropped to 1.6 percent.

in the Netherlands, the number of people working in the hospitality industry increased from 344,000 in 2008 to 374,000 in 2014. thus in 2014 worked about 4.3 percent of all persons employed in the industry .

In the rest of Europe are these percentages vary widely. Thus, the hospitality industry in Cyprus, a small country with a lot of tourism, measured an important industry to share hospitality employees on all workers (10.9 percent).

This is the case in traditional holiday destinations such as Greece and Spain (both 7.6 percent). Also in Portugal (5.9 percent) and Italy (5.7 percent) are relatively many people in the hospitality industry.

In Romania, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are relatively fewer people working in the hospitality industry in the Netherlands. It is in these countries to rates of between 2 and 3 percent
