Real Estate Speculators in Amsterdam to abuse of rental sites like Airbnb and Booking.com. Buildings in the city are rented to tourists throughout the year and thereby hire and fire safety rules are bypassed. In fact, run as illegal hotels, writes Volkskrant .The newspaper relies on parts of the administration of real estate company Living Capital.
The mediator rents on behalf of homeowners certainly 803 beds, spread 86 apartments in the city. The municipality has several warnings and fines handed out to the company. Three buildings are boarded up, because there was a fire hazard, illegal hotel.
Homeowners may Amsterdam rent their property to tourists, but there are rules attached. Who wants to offer structural apartment on Airbnb, must have a permit and comply with strict rules for fire safety. Individuals on Airbnb should not be longer than two months per year to rent their property. The real estate companies would ignore these rules.
Living Capital is not the only mediator who helps pawnbrokers. In Amsterdam, at least ten of such mediators, says Marnix Bolkestein of the municipality of Amsterdam at the newspaper.
