The engine range of the new 3-Series Sedan includes four petrol and seven diesel versions, consisting of three-, four- and six-cylinder engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The new basic version is the 318i with three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine. The power of 100 kW / 136 hp is equal to that of the 316i it replaces, while CO2 emissions are reduced to 129 g / km. (Previously: 134 g / km)
The 330i with new four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo replaces the 328i combines 185 kW / 252 hp (previously 245 hp) with a 12 percent lower fuel consumption. Also new is the TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in the 340i. With 240 kW / 326 hp (previously 306 hp), this version ensures high dynamic performance, while fuel consumption has dropped by 10 percent compared to the 335i.
In 2016 further expanded the range PHEV with the 330th. The combined fuel consumption of 2.1 l / 100 km (49 g / km) allows the plug-in hybrid in the 15% addition in fall 2016. The plug-in hybrid technology combines the 135 kW / 184 hp 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with a 80 kW electric motor. The combined output of 185 kW (252 hp) and a combined maximum torque of 420 Nm make the 330th in 6.3 seconds from zero to 100 km / h sprint. The top speed is 225 km / h. The complete electric range is approximately 35 kilometers.
The 320d Sedan and 320d Touring now deliver 140 kW / 190 hp and 400 Nm and emit 106 g / km CO2, combined with the 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission (Touring 109 g / km). This fall the diesel versions in the category of 20 percent addition. That includes the optimized 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon which in combination with the 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission 99 grams of CO2 (Touring 104 g / km).
The standard M Sport and adaptive dampers are adjusted. The body roll is reduced and steering precision has increased. Almost all versions of the 3-Series are available with xDrive all-wheel drive, except the 318i and 316d. The 335d is fitted as standard with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive.
New materials enhance the appearance of the interior. Subtle changes to the center console and cup holders provide better usability.
