Children’s Ombudsman sees double messages about youth – nrc.nl

More and more parents and children have questions or complaints about child welfare. The number of reports on the subject came last year at the Children’s Ombudsman doubled from 452 in 2013 to a number of 1,064. Last month, expressed Children’s Ombudsman Marcel Dullaert criticized the decentralization of the youth to municipalities.

Today’s Annual Report 2014 published by the Children’s Ombudsman. The total number of reports in 2014 increased by 30 percent to 2,867. The vast majority of reports concern the youth. The reports of this differ, but often got questions or complaints about the Children’s Ombudsman under court custody or guardianship of children. There were also regular complaints from parents or children who do not agree with the method of a family guardian.

Children’s Ombudsman Dullaert called child welfare last month’s “one big testing ground” in a report, which he also wrote that parents and children do not know where to turn to with questions about child welfare. Many municipalities have called for the youth community teams rigged, but most are in the startup phase.

The majority of reports received within the Ombudsman for Children of parents, but also children call more often. That number increased from 177 to 211 reports.
