“Criminals undermine authority in 34 municipalities” – Telegraaf.nl

HILVERSUM –

In 34 municipalities the authority is undermined by criminals. The reasons for this subversion are diverse, from money laundering to radicalising people and problems with motor clubs and football hooligans. So say the mayors of those municipalities in a survey by the Association of Mayors and the TV program News Hour. More than half of the Dutch mayors, namely 211, took part in the survey

.

Of the mayors surveyed say more than half never had to suffer from violence. Forty-one of them the other hand several times a year, or even several times a month, suffering from aggression and violence.

This usually involves verbal abuse, face-to-face or through social media and intimidation and threat . In two thirds of the cases involve people who do not agree with a municipal decision, such as a building permit is denied.

About two months ago, warned two Brabant mayors in the Volkskrant that organized crime is likely to be the boss in some places in the Netherlands
