No Dutch ship to boat people Mediterranean – NU.nl

The Dutch army has been doing much, but not all, the minister said. For instance Netherlands has been providing a Coast Guard aircraft, military police and a number of fast motor boats.



Obligations

But Hennis has no supply ships which they can use at will. If they were to do so, this is at the expense of other obligations, such as the fight against piracy off the coast of Somalia.

That’s why her preferred that other countries that do have a ship available, which may bets. “Protecting the external border is the responsibility of the 28 Member States.”
