AMSTERDAM –

Some 100,000 ancient books from the library of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) come to be on the internet. This requires a partnership with Google, they are going to digitize. The next 2 years This makes the books for everyone to consult worldwide free

The books that are digitized are from before 1874 and thus duty free. The specimens are kept in the Special Collections Department of the University of Amsterdam. The collection includes books on Jewish culture, church history, cartography, literature, book history and zoology.

Google is already working with the Royal Library (KB) in The Hague. Meanwhile 235,000 titles from the collection of the KB are made accessible online. The KB aims to all publications that have appeared in the Netherlands in digital form
