The Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise has departed from Rotterdam, where the environmental organization had wanted to demonstrate against the arrival of an oil tanker of Gazprom. with the vessel , Reports news agency Novum.

The judge put last night blocked the action. The activists were planning to prevent the oil tanker Mikhail Ulyanov would dock in the port of Rotterdam, the Arctic Sunrise, but that was not the judge. The ship is now on its way to its home port in Amsterdam, leave a spokesperson. Greenpeace is still possible appeal against the ruling of the court.

The judge argued three reasons why Greenpeace should not thwart the ship. First, there’s been a lot of attention as her for the Greenpeace action against the extraction of oil from the Arctic. In an earlier oil transportation, on May 1, namely Greenpeace got publicity with an action in the port of Rotterdam.

A second reason is that the action has not gone smoothly. According to the court There were boats and swimmers in places where they should not have and had the harbor police intervention. Ultimately, fines are levied. The charterer suffered damage by unloading slower than planned. That’s for the court reason to believe that the now planned action is not flawless.

The third reason is that Greenpeace, as usual, does not want to specify what actions against the tanker are scheduled. To This is for the court not to estimate how much difficulty the charterer of operations will suffer. The court therefore ruled that Greenpeace now four weeks may not daub, the tanker damage, impede or interfere with navigation, access to the port, unloading or departure.

Greenpeace used the Arctic Sunrise last year at a protest at a drilling platform of Gazprom in the Barents Sea. The Russians boarded the ship when and laid it on the chain in Murmansk. Only in August turned the ship with heavy damage back in the Netherlands
