Possible anthrax in 7 tons of beef – Telegraaf.nl

UTRECHT –

A batch of 7,000 pounds of beef is taken as a precaution from the market because it may be contaminated with anthrax. That made the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) Friday. It is not known to the NVWA whether the meat is already on the shelves

The meat comes from a slaughterhouse from Poland. Two cows of that party again a Slovak farmer where after the massacre the infectious disease anthrax (or anthrax) was adopted. It is unlikely that the meat is actually infected and that people get sick, stressed the NVWA.

The meat is delivered to 19 companies in the Netherlands and 26 in other countries.

People can get anthrax through direct contact with infected animals or by eating contaminated meat. Without treatment, the disease can be fatal
