‘Major breakthrough’ in the case of deadly robbery Helmondse Mien Graveland (86) – Omroep Brabant

HELMOND – In the investigation of the deadly attack on the elderly Mien Graveland from Helmond, the netherlands, the police said Wednesday a 24-year-old man from Schiedam held. He was arrested in Rotterdam and secured.

The Public Prosecutor and the police see this arrest as a ‘significant breakthrough’ in the investigation.

Employees energy company
Previously, in this case, all three men of 26, 28 and 29 from Helmond was arrested. They are now free again, but still suspicious. “We did the research and then plenty of secondary,” says a politiewoordvoerder. “That led to the new arrest.”

What is the link between the holdings of Schiedam and the three previously arrested Helmonders wants the politiewoordvoerder not say. “There has onderszoeksteam a picture of, but because the investigation is still plenty of runs and this guy from Schiedam in the next few days heard, may I not here say much about that.”

Employees energy company
The robbers knew the house on the Bestevaer on August 29, 2014 around halfelf in the morning to come by to pretend to be employees of energy company Oxxio. When Graveland the men binnenliet, went wrong: she was tied up and severely beaten. “We still had so said, they no one the door was open…”, verzuchtten the daughters of Graveland at the beginning of February in the investigation programme Bureau Brabant.

The woman was hours later shot by her son found and taken to a hospital, where that same evening died.

“Excessive violence”
According to the police, there is 'excessive violence' used in the robbery. The eyes of the elderly woman were shut tight, her face colored red. The survivors do not understand why this had to happen. "My mother was not only my mother. She was my girlfriend. I miss the conversations. I miss her voice."

The perpetrators were under a red treasure chest loot.

tremendous impact
The deadly raid had a lot of impact on the survivors and the inhabitants of the district. The research is plenty. More arrests are not excluded.

"Only when it’s over, can we the death of our mother process”, let the son Garbrecht at the end of march already know. “What we do in the meantime? Wait and see. That is the only thing that I have for my mother can do, wait and see…"
