The criminal investigation into the disaster flight MH17 from Malaysia Airlines in Ukraine, if known, the largest of its kind in Dutch history. So says the Public Prosecutor (OM)

The OM has ten prosecutors deployed. They lead the research, which is conducted by approximately 200 investigators. The police have different specialties.

The National Office of the OM is charged with the investigation. The Dutch Justice has taken the lead in international cooperation with the countries affected by the disaster, which occurred on July 17.

The main purpose of the criminal investigation is to establish the facts of the plane crash and to identify the perpetrators. When the disaster came all 298 occupants killed; 196 of them had Dutch nationality. It is believed that the aircraft was shot.
