BARNEVELD – On a business in Barneveld be Saturday preventive culling 8,000 ducks . The animals are not infected with bird flu, but the company is visited by a truck that has previously been in the infected ducks company Kamperveen.

Because there are at Barneveld many poultry farms, Secretary Dijksma want to take any risks. “For the farmers and their animals the current bird flu is downright awful. It is therefore necessary to make every possible effort to prevent an outbreak, as in 2003,” she writes.

There are currently in Barneveld no suspicions of bird flu, reports the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

On November 15, bird flu was detected at a company in Hekendorp (municipality Oudewater). There, 150,000 chickens have been culled.
