Again firing agent prosecuted – Yahoo! News

The prosecution will again prosecute a cop because of a shooting. It is a 34-year-old policeman who earlier this year fired at a car that crashed into him at the Butter Market in Haarlem.

The motorist who crashed into the officer, a 41-year-old man from Heemstede, must answer before the court. Both are charged with attempted murder

The incident took place on January 26. The man from Heemstede was walking with his wife in the shopping and plainclothes agents wanted the couple to hold for shoplifting. When the man got into the car, went to the agent for the car in an attempt to stop him. They then stepped on the gas.

The officer had to jump aside to avoid being hit. He shot then the moving car, causing the driver was slightly wounded

The Public concluded after investigation that the agent should not have pull his gun. “There were other and less intrusive possibilities to keep the suspect. Also there was no longer any threatening situation towards the policeman.”

there was a danger for the many onlookers in the square that could be hit by the police bullet. Also, the car had to be unmanageable, which also yielded a hazard to bystanders. The shooting was therefore according to the public contrary to both the instruction and the law.

Later also revealed that the man and his wife had nothing stolen.

The policeman continues to treatment of his criminal case at work. The police assumes that the agent has acted with professionalism and integrity.
