Leidseplein transforms into a huge construction site – NU.nl

All the traffic is routed, as there is major maintenance on the rails. Also the Leidsebrug gets a new road surface. Despite the fact that the work up to seven november last, all of the cultural institutions simply accessible.

“We are here last night for an hour started. When is the rail removed,” explains project manager Marcel Vega. “A kilometre tramline was located here. From Monday at 17: 00 they go to the new track, to plead, and the next day they put it back, vastboren and require.”

From the Stadhouderskade and the Marnixstraat to the Leidsestraat and the Weteringschans the square is one big building site of about two football fields in size. There is day and night work to finish the job as soon as possible to get it done.

Silent around you

“It is huge, hectic, but fun,” says Vega. “Because you don’t do this so often experience in your life here on the Leidseplein. That it’s silent around you, but there’s still a lot of action. On a Saturday it is very busy normally with all people that come from all sides. And that we see not now.”

From Wednesday’s drive tram 7 and 10 display the route between the Marnixstraat and Weteringschans, next week Saturday, follows the rest.
