The Erasmus Prize 2015 was awarded to Wikipedia. The website receives the award because she has promoted the dissemination of knowledge through a comprehensive, publicly accessible encyclopedia set up, according to the foundation Erasmus Prize today.
The award is given in particular to Wikipedia as a so-called community, a community of tens of thousands of volunteers worldwide track the encyclopedia and shape.
