A 33-year-old woman from Ter Apel is Saturday died when a motorist during the carnival procession drove past a roadblock. The victim was with her parents in the audience that was watching the parade. According to police, the accident happened because the driver of the car was unwell
.
Around 16:00 the car drove past the roadblock on the Kapelweg in Ter Apel. The car hit people in the audience and came to rest against one of the floats.
A total of five people were injured, including the woman’s parents died. Her 63-year-old father was seriously injured, her mother is something less serious condition, police said. The couple sat in the car, was injured. They seem, according to the police not very serious to be increasing. The fifth is a wounded man, who is relatively lightly injured.

Everything points according to the police that the incident was an accident, but they are still investigating what exactly happened.
Those involved could find shelter in the sports hall at the Heemker Akkerstraat. About 15 people took advantage of the reception possibilities there.
